The Site provides general educational information about anesthesia and surgery preparation. It is intended to help you understand common topics and to prepare questions for your own care team. The information is general in nature and is not tailored to any individual's medical situation.

Nothing on the Site is medical advice, and nothing on the Site is a substitute for professional medical judgment, diagnosis, or treatment. The Site does not diagnose conditions, does not recommend or direct any treatment, and does not tell you to start, stop, or change any medication. Always seek the advice of your physician, anesthesia team, or other qualified health professional with any questions you have about a medical condition or an upcoming procedure.

Using the Site does not create a physician-patient relationship between you and Jack Neil, MD, or anyone associated with the Site. Reading information here, generating a preparation document, or contacting us does not make you a patient, and no one associated with the Site is acting as your physician.

The Site is not a medical device and is not a medical product. It is not intended to be used to diagnose, cure, treat, mitigate, or prevent any disease or condition. It is a general-education and patient-advocacy tool.

We built this to need as little of your information as possible. What you type or say is used to build your answer or your prep sheet in the moment and is not stored, and you never create an account. Because we are an independent educational service, not a healthcare provider, a health plan, or a clearinghouse, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), which governs the providers that hold your medical records, does not apply here. Anything you do choose to share is handled under our Privacy Policy. You stay in control of what you share.

You may enter only your own health information. Do not submit health information about any other person. If you are helping someone else prepare for a procedure, share the general educational material with them and let them enter their own details, or work directly with their care team.

The Site is not for emergencies and cannot help in an emergency. If you think you are having a medical emergency, call 911 or your local emergency number right away, or go to the nearest emergency department. If you have an urgent question before your surgery, call your surgical or anesthesia team.

The Site is designed to inform and to help you advocate for yourself. It surfaces topics, explains them in plain language, and helps you prepare questions. It never makes a clinical decision for you. Every clinical decision, including decisions about medications, fasting, anesthesia type, and timing, belongs to you and your own care team.

You agree to use the Site only for lawful, personal, non-commercial purposes. You agree not to misuse the Site, not to attempt to disrupt or overload it, not to attempt to access it in an unauthorized way, and not to use it to submit unlawful content or another person's information without authorization.

We work to keep the information current and to cite the sources behind it, and we show when those sources were last reviewed. Even so, medical knowledge changes, and the Site may contain errors, omissions, or out-of-date material. The Site is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, and we do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or complete.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Site is provided without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the information on the Site is accurate, reliable, current, or complete.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Jack Neil, MD, and anyone associated with the Site will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss arising out of or relating to your use of, or inability to use, the Site. You are responsible for how you use the information here, and you agree that your reliance on it is at your own risk. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of the Site after an update means you accept the revised terms.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of South Carolina, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute relating to these terms or to the Site will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in South Carolina, to the extent permitted by law.
