Wear loose, comfortable clothes that are easy to put on and take off. Bring clothes to go home in, and choose simple shoes that are easy to put on. Leave jewelry and valuables at home. Do not wear makeup, and avoid perfume, cologne, body spray, and other cosmetic products. If you wear glasses, bring a case for them. If you wear contact lenses, leave them at home or remove them before surgery.

If you are told to bring pajamas or a robe, pick ones that open in the front and are easy to wear after surgery. Some hospitals may let you keep most underwear on, but you may be asked to change into a hospital gown.
